Why should fire fighters wear body & fat protective wear

Fire fighters need to protect all of their body more than just wearing a fire fighter’s coat. The more they can wear the better protected they will be so they can safely help others when fighting fires. It does not take a lot of heat to injure a body in a fire. A firefighter needs to wear gloves, sleeve, butchers cape shoulder length with hood), blood and fat elastic waist pants, fire fighter’s hat, and a blood and fat jacket.

The blood and fat wear helps to protect against disintegration caused by blood and fat. Untreated materials will crack when exposed to such materials. Fires are very hot and can cause explosions, which spew chemicals and other things onto the firefighter. A person should not run into a burning building without the proper gear and that includes body and fat protective wear.

Other fire equipment necessary for a fire fighter fire extinguisher, hoses and nozzles, fire axes, fire blankets, as well as salvage sheets. Of the fire fighter fire extinguishers there are several types to have and it would be wise to have all of them. A fire fighter may go into a situation and not know what exactly started the fire. It takes different materials to put out certain types of fires. For example, start with dry chemical powder fire extinguishers, spares carbon dioxide fire extinguishers, foam making equipment, fire fighting foam, and extinguishers with branch pipes, jet sprays, and extinguisher boxes.

Fighting fires inside and outside requires additional equipment, which includes masks for grass fires, masks for inside fires, and even gas testing equipment. A smart fire fighter will have all the necessary equipment available on their truck, ready to grab and use in a moment’s notice when an emergency fire breaks out. Most all fires are an emergency and being prepared helps to have the best outcome as possible.
