Is your business protected against fire?

Is your business protected? Do you and your employees know what you would do if there were a fire in the building? There are several components necessary in order to ensure that your company and your employees are protected in the event of a fire at

your place of business. Some of those things are common sense, but as the saying goes, common sense isn’t always common. Making sure that your employees have what you need and that everyone is on the same page when a fire strikes is imperative. There should be a clearly labeled plan that lets each employee know what their responsibilities are in the event of a fire of a problem in the business. There are three things that every business should have in place inside in order to safeguard the employees who are working there. The first is a very simple tool that the law requires when you are operating a business of any type. A fire extinguisher is not only an important piece of equipment for every company to have, but it is the law. Making sure that your fire extinguisher is in place and is clearly marked is an important part of doing business, but making sure that every employee is trained in the use of the fire extinguisher is imperative. Clearly marked exits are important. The exit signs should be very brightly colored or lit so that they are easy to see even in a room which may be smoky or dark. Making sure that all exits are clearly marked will help to ensure that everyone gets out of the building safely. Fire blankets are also important tools to keeping your employees safe. In the event that someone must walk through flames or must find cover, a fire blanket can save lives. Make sure that your business has these three essentials in place and that they are marked clearly. Further make sure that everyone knows the basic operation and the procedures which are to be followed in the event of a fire. Doing so will save lives and property.
